CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW
NEXT TUESDAY’S DISPLAY. The fourth autumn, or, as it is commonly called, chrysanthemum show, of the Wellington Horticultural Society, will be held in the Town Hall on Tuesday next. The Minister of Education (the Hon. H. Atmore) will perforin the opening ceremony at 3 p.m. A fine display of the over-popular chrysanthemums, also dahlias, cut flowers, ladies’ decora-
tive'work. fruit and vegetables, seems as. sured, It is said that chrysanthemums in pots each occupying a space a yard wide, such as never before have been exhibited in a local show, will'be a feature of one grower’s display. Dahlias, which for some time receded in public favour, have now more than come back to their own; and the latest ami best in the newer varieties will be displayed for the first time in this city". ,-Tlie "Miss Hose J.oseph” trophy is onee more, arousing great interest among the eight suburban societies competing. Brooklyn, the present holders of the cup. who require only one more success to win the cup outright, are marshalling their growers,'and the society who outclasses, this-district will require something bet-, ter than the best. A number of new exhibitors from outside the city area are coming ■ forward. especially in the ladies' decorative classes. A good orchestra has been engaged, Show blooms and seed* lings will be on sale, and the ladies of the society will provide afternoon tea. Schedules can be obtained from any seedsmen or floriste. or from the secretary, Mr. J. G. MacKenzie, Town Hall.
