THE ELEANOR BOLLING
SHIP ORDERED BACK TO * NEW ZEALAND RAPID APPROACH OF WINTER i (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.l Vancouver, February 27. Commander Byrd has ordered the Eleanor Bolling not to attempt to break through the ice, but to return with the cargo to New Zealand. The ship turned on Monday night, when 1060miles south-east of Taiaroa Head. Commander Byrd stated that the winter was coming down with such rapidity that the Eleanor Bolling would probably 'never escape if she continued southward.
