CAUSTIC POURED ON SLEEPING STEWARD SHIP’S OFFICER ALSO INJURED Australian Press Association. Colombo, February 27. A fiendish attempt at murder is reported aboard the Mooltau. The chief saloon steward, Mr. Fowler, was sleeping in his cabin when a large quantity of caustic potash was poured over him by an unknown hand. Mr. Fowler is in a critical condition. Mr. Hayes, an officer of the Mooltan, is also in hospital, suffering from the effects of caustic.
