GERMANY AND SOUTH AFRICA
THE TRADE TREATY. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby,-February 27. Replying to a question in the House of Commons about the treaty between South Africa and Germany, Mr. Leopold Amery, the Dominion’s Secretary, pointed out that It provided that goods produced or manufactured in Germany would, on importation to the Union of South Africa, be entitled to the same treatment as similar goods produced or manufactured in any other country. This concession was subject to a proviso that in the case of goods to which preferential treatment was specifically accorded under the existing Union legislation to other parts of the British Empire, Germany would not be able to claim the rebate actually granted to other parts of the Empire.
