CHANNEL TUNNEL
VULNERABLE TO AERIAL ATTACK ■ i Australian Press Association. London, February 27. The “Airways” newspaper, discussing the Channel tunnel, points out that it would be easily vulnerable to aerial attack. A flight of bombers could wipe out the tunnel within a few hours of the declaration of hostilities. Moreover, the tunnel would be of little value commercially. “It will cost sixty million, and when it is completed, after ten years air transport will have reached such a stage that those dreading a sea-crossing will automatically take the speedy air route.”
