NATIVE BIRDS

Sir, —In your issue of February 14 I read “Game Bird’s" letter regarding sporting birds and native birds. Now, . Sir, as one .who is living practically in the bush I beg to inform you that it was only yesterday that I saw a hen pheasant which I thought was a new . arrival. I can show anyone that comes along any evening a New Zealand parrot, similar to the one' at the Zoo; It comes out'of the bush every evening, flies around my house, and perches in the surrounding trees until dusk. Then it flies across to the bush for the night. ' Does this look as if the Acclimatisation Society is not making its presence felt? —I am, etc., O. NATION. Akatarawa, February 15.
