SCHEDULE OF CHANGES ISSUED BUSINESS PROCEEDING MORE SMOOTHLY (Australian Press Association.) London, January 14. A schedule of freight alterations has been issued confidentially to ship loading brokers, with the result that shi]> pers can ascertain the rates on their particular goods, consequentlj’ business is working more smoothly. Among the increases in freights are the following: Earthenware and glassware, 60s. to 655.; chinaware, 60s. to 70s. ; aeroplanes, 555. to 605.; fireclay, lumps, 50s. to 555.; holloware, 60s. to 705.; wheels and axles, 100 s. to 110 s.: three-ply boards and many kinds of woodware, 60s. to 655. VICTORIAN IMPORTERS AWAITING REPLIES Melbourne, January 15. The Victorian Importers’ Association has decided to await replies, to inquiries regarding shipping freights, sent- by the Prime Minister (Mr. S. M. Bruce) to the Australian and New Zealand Merchants’ Association in London, before taking further action. Private cables received in ‘Melbourne indicate that the proposed increases apply to cargo from Britain to Australia. The otily..reply received from London also indicates . that freights will be raised, in respect to outward cargoes only..
