YEAR OF HEAVY RAINFALL. Dominion Special Service. Nelson, January 2. Rainfall during 1028 in Nelson was 41.21 in., which is more than 3in. above the average, which works out at 38.02im over a period of 45 years. December, with 8.69 in. of rainfall, is the wettest since December, 1886, when 8.89 in. fell. Other very wet years were 1592 with 55.45 in., 1893 with 55.52 in., and 1925 with 53.94 in. The daily average sunshine for the year was 6hrs. 55min., the ‘otal being 2534hr5. Train.
