FALL OF 300 FEET
WOMAN’S WONDERFUL ESCAPE (Rec. December 29, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, December 29. Mrs. Lola Simpson, aged 26, had her lucky day yesterday when, after falling 300 feet from Leura Look-out, in the Blue Mountains, she escaped with a wrenched ankle. She is to-day suffering severely from shock, and is unable to say what caused her to fall. Police and ambulance men descended with long ropes to the bottom of the ravine, a perilous task, where they found Mrs. Simpson huddled on a ledge. They had to carry her three miles through scrub to the Katoombe Hospital. (Rec. December 30, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, December 30. Mrs. Simpson, who fell 300 feet over a cliff in the Blue Mountains, has practically recovered. Interviewed, she stated that her foot slipped on loose clay. She toppled over the edge, but grasped at trees and shrubs, which partially broke her fall. She bounced from ledge to ledge and wondered when she would stop. The falling was an awful experience. She had the same sensation for hours after her rescue.
