ST. PATRICK’S COLLEGE

THE YEAR’S PRIZES DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY There was a good attendance at the prize-giving ceremony last night of St. Patrick’s College. Proceedings opened with a dramatic recital, when scenes from "The Merchant of Venice” were presented by the pupils, who gave a very creditable performance. The following participated: S. Bourke, F. Swindell, B. Wright, It. Ivory, It. Hughes, D. Maher, A. McGuinness, A. McDonald, P. Bird, P. Hannah, D. Minett, F. Aarons, F. McCarthy, It. Mickleson, B. Benge, J. Aarons, L. Woods, M. Goodson, J. Fennell. An orchestra was in attendance. In his report, the rector of the college (Father B. J. Ityan, S.M., M.A.), said that with the close of the year, the college had completed its 44th year of existence, while the year marked, also, the completion of fifty years of special educational effort on the part of the Catholies of the Dominion. The year had been a successful one for the college. The school roll was 202 —only once before had it passed the 200 mark. The most noteworthy event in the life of the school in the year, was the departure of Father Gilbert —master from 1906 to 1917, and rector from 1918 to 1927—wh0 had left the school in a fine position.
