CARDINAL CERRETTI
WONDERFUL RECEPTION AT SUVA (Australian Press Association.) Suva, November 24. Cardinal Cerretti, who is a passenger on the Aorangi, had a wonderful reception by the largest cosmopolitan crowd that ever gathered at Suva wharf. He was entertained at dinner in the Town Hall by the Catholic Young Men’s Society. The Governor of Fiji (Sir Eyre Hutson), the Mayor of Suva, the Chief Justice, the Colonial Secretary (the Hon. A. W. Seymour), Bishop Nicolas of Fiji, the Bishop of Tonga, and all Suva’s principal citizens were present, and afterwards attended a service in the Cathedral. The Cardinal received an address of welcome, after which there were native ceremonies at Yagona and a ceremony at Mekes by Fijians, Samoans, Wallis Islanders, and Gilbert Islanders, in the convent grounds, which were specially lighted electrically. The weather was perfect.
