BURDEN OF DEBT
ON RUSSIAN FARMS CANCELLATION AND BIG LOAN REQUESTED London, November 23. The Riga correspondent of “The Times” states that agricultural commissars all over Russia have conferred concerning the Soviet farm directors’ request not only for the cancellation of the debts on farms, but for a loan of 152,000.000 roubles as a sole issue. The directors are helples sin the situation. The spokesman, M. Dmitrieff, disclosed that the debts had grown from 22,000,000 to 40,000,000 roubles in four years, while wages are four months in arrears. The failure of enterprise seriously affects the agricultural policy.
