PUPILS’ CONCERT
This is tho season of annual pupils' concerts, when parents and friends assemble to hear their hopefuls in public, many of I hem, probably, to realise with some surprise that Iho horrors of the domestic practising hours have borne really delectable fruit. Mr. Eric Meier's violin pupils hail the pintform ut the Concert Chamber last, evening, assisted by Miss Elsa Walker, at the piano, and Miss Greta Jefperson (‘cellist). The violin pupils inrijuitted themselves creditably. If they attempted no ambitious Hights, they al 'least presented programme numbers above ilie commonplace, The composers reproseutod wore Rieding, Dunhill, t’cbuliert, Chopin, Kreisler. Godard, Ijeetlioven, (,'esnr Cui, D'Ambrosio, Haii'FL Wlenlawski, Seliumanu, and Haydn. Ibe performers were Miss Margaret Pilcher, Miss Zona Burk, Parkinson, Miss Mariorio llarvoy, and Masters Erie Sharpe, Hedley, Thomas, Haydn, Williams, and Bernard Gallate, all of whom .played tliair nuiubei's carefully. The violin is n difficult instrument, and in immature hands not always pleasing to hear, but with slight uncertainties in tune, the pupils all did very well. Purcell s Golden Sonata” was nicely played by Messrs. Frank Hopkins and Eric Meier. Miss Elsa Walker also played a Chopin bracket, i* Baclnnuninoff Melodie, Jjid an Albert Seguidilla, aud with . Miss Phyllis Sealy, played the accompaniments for the punilft. One liked very much Miss Grata Jefpersan’s ’cello numbers—expressively played, nnd admirably in tune. Ensemble numberti by the massed pupils opened mid closed the programme.
