WELLINGTON MEETING FURTHER INSTALMENT FORM (By “Overcheck.") Having dealt with the form of tha horses engaged in the November and-Elec*, trie Handicaps, I will now take the. Railway and Middle Class Handicaps, several of the horses having an engagement in each. Railway Handicap. Florrie Pointer is an aged mare by, Logan Pointed from a Rothschild mare. Last season she was produced on fifteen occasions for three seconds and a third. At Carterton in December she registered 3.44 3-5 at a mile and a half. At Ashburton in April she went 4.46 2-5 from a 4.55 mark, while at Oamaru in May she did 2.58 2-5 in the Papakaio Handicap of one mile and a quarter. This season she con-, tested the View Hill Handicap at the North Canterbury meeting, being made third favourite, but running unplaced. George the Fourth is one of the regulars at the meetings of the Wellington Club. His record last season was three seconds out of eight starts. At Wellington in December he ran second to Vestas, his time being 3.34 1-5. Later in the month he ran second to Tul Wildwood in the Wairarapa Cup, registering 4.51 for the two miles. At the salne fixture he again ran second in the Grey town Handicap,. this time doing 3.33 3-5. He is a good oeginner, but does not stay on very well. His only start during the current season was in the Wellington Handicap, of two miles, but he was not prominent. Richore is now a five-year-old. As a three-year-old he won the New Zealand Sapling Stakes at Ashburton in 3.31. Last season he was produced twice, but did no good. He is now one of Mr. Corrigan’s team, and it remains to be seen whether his trainer has been able to get him back to his early form. Sylvia Logan Is an improving sort,, Last season she won the Dominion Hani dicap at', Westport in December, register* ing 2.30 4-5 for eight furlongs and a half. She also ran a second and a third at the same fixture. She later contested the Belfast Handicap at New Brighton, in March, when she ran second to Lady Brent in 3.34 4-5, Peter Daunt, in recelpl of 24 yards, being a length away third. ■ln her first five starts this year she ran unplaced, but then won the first divisiot of the Little River Trot 'Handicap at th( Banks Peninsula meeting, registerini 3.34 4-5. ■ Great Logan is a four-year-old by Logan Pointer—Childwood. He started once only at three years, running second to In, vader in the Maturity Handicap at th) Canterbury, Park’s meeting in J unc, when he registered 3.29 2-s—a very good performance. This season ha contested th< Mt. Harding Handicap at' the ■ Methvea meeting, but being on. -18 yards, with aboui twenty horses in front of him, his fail: ure need not. be taken into account. Exclusive faced the starter on twelve occasions during the 1927-28 season, bui the nearest she got to a win was her sec; ond to Locanda General in the Visitors' Handicap at Methven- in October; In thil race she went 2.52 4-5 for the 1J miles, At Oamaru the same month she was agaia third, while in March she was similarly placed in the Gracefield Handicap at Wellington, her time for the journey being 4.42 3-5. So far this season she has had two unprofitable outings. Kiowa ran a first, a second and a third as a. four-year-old, his best time for a mile and a half being that recorded by him at Methven in October, when he' wenl 3.39 2-5. At the corresponding meeting thia year - he won . the Mt. Harding Handicap, of 11 miles, his time being 2.56 3-5 agalnsl hls 'handicap time of 3.1. He failed from a 3.32 mark at Oamaru last month. Rollo, It will be remembered, won the Novice Handicap atr-the last Wellington meeting, when he did 3.5 1-5 on a holding track. Earlier-in the month he ran third at New Brighton, going 3.32 2-5 for 12 furlongs.- He was made favourite in the Redcastle Handicap at Oamaru last month, but was well outside the money. Still he is a young horse that should be on the upgrade all the time. Young Bingen secured a winning bracket at Tapanui' in February, when he registered 3.2 4-5 at a mile and a -quarter. This season he ran third to Chef and Loburn at the North ■ Canterbury meeting, recording 217 4-5 for the mile. Subsequently he won the first division of the Davauchelle Handicap at the Banks Peninsula meeting in October recording 2.39 4-5 for nine furlongs. , Athalone last year recorded 3.491-5 for 13 furlongs. at Forbury, equal to about 3.3li'for the mile and a half. Later ha ran third at Timaru, going 4.462-5 for two miles. This season at Wellington he ran second to Travis Axworthy in the Borough Handicap and later in the day reversed positions with him In the Wellington Handicap. The going was on the heavy side so the times registered are of little moment. In the mile and a half race he was handicapped on 3.33, while In the two-mile race he was on 4.47. Mercury won three races last term, commencing at Carterton in December, and finishing up at Marlborough in March, since when she has let her supporters down badly on more than one occasion. Her best time at twelve furlongs was 3.30 3-5, which was registered at Carterton, while in the Marlborough Handicap, of two miles, she did 4.40 3-5. Her. winning and placed performances were all registered on ‘‘good’ or fast tracks, so she might rehabilitate herself now" that firm tracks are likely to be the order of the day. Nan Brent raced twice last season, at her second essay beating all but Rose Marie in the Stewards’ Handicap, of one mile and a half, at Oamaru, in. May, in which , she did, 3.31. , This season she has had two races, having started In the Pukeuri Handicap (1£ miles, saddle), and the Redcastle Handicap at Oamaru last month. She was favourite in the former, and fourth favourite in the latter, but 'failed in each. She should be all the better for the outings. White Sun showed promising form last season, winning a couple of races and being placed in three others. At Invercargill in March he ran a mile and a half in 3.32 3-5, and a mile and a quarter at Wyndham in 2.52 2-ssec. In the latter race he defeated Sunfish by two lengths, when conceding 36 yards. He is now trained at Christchurch, but has not raced as well as expected in his more recent starts. He contested the Redcastle Handicap at Oamaru last month, being mado third favourite, his handicap being 3.31. Zella won four races last year, and was placed in four others. Her smartest time at a mile and a half was that registered in the Improvers’ Handicap at Wellington in March, when she ran 3.32. She is at home over all distances, and at Marlborough in March ran 2.18 4-5 for the mile, and 4.46 1-5 for two miles. She has shown a dislike for the barrier, and until she overcomes this fault is always apt to place herself on a much tighter mark than that allotted her by the handicapper Travis Axworthy needs no introduction, as his form at the last meeting will still be fresh in the minds of all. His best recorded time ,at a mile and a hair is d.oi 2-5 which he registered at Ashburton m May, but he is no doubt equal to something better than that. When lie won the Borough .Handicap at the last meeting he was handicapped on 3.33. At Otahuhu last Saturday he wen over a mile aud a quarter in 2.50 2-5, equal to a gait of better than 3.25 for 12 furlongs. Cora Tacks won a mile race at Hawera last April, and was twice second at Wanganui in March over the same distance. Her smartest time was 2.18. Middle Class Handicap. Alexis has had three unsuccessful outings so far this season. He did not race last- terra. _ t Dilworth has proved a brilliant filly so far, having won in each of her three starts at Greymouth In October. In her first essav she registered 3.46 2-5 for 12} furlongs; in her next 3.11 for 10} furlongs; and in her third, 3.9 1-5. Great Delight, ran second twice out of six attempts last season, registering 3.35 1-5 for a mile and a half at Wanganui and 4.53 for two miles at Taranaki. Matenga had seven outings for a win over 8 furlongs at Carterton In December, time 2.22 3-5. Real Light won the one race that she contested last season. This was at Forbury in January, when he won the Southland Handicap by six lengths from Athalone, registering'.3.47 4-5 for the mile and five furlongs. He has had four races since August, being placed third In one, viz., the Wellington Handicap of two miles, in which. he ran 4.53 1-5 from a 4.44 mark. The going was heavy. If the going Is good, he may do better on Saturday. Royal Serene last year won the Melrose Trot'at Ashburton In January, when on a fast track she put up 3.29. On the same course in Jilne she won the Farewell Handicap of 1 mile In 2.16. So far this term she has had only one outing. This was in the Methven Cup, in which she was unplaced, though she made a return to her supporters by reason of being bracketed with the winner.
