ISLAND BAY BRIDGE
COMMENCEMENT PERHAPS NEXT YEAR The long-projected proposal io bridge the ocean tide which flows between the island and the western beach, at Island Bay, may come to a head next year. Consultations have been held recently between the Mayor and the Secretary of the Marine Department (Mr. Godfrey I. which has helped to clear the air as to the proposal, in which the council and the Government are mutually interested, and probably a definite step toward its consummation may be taken early in the new year, when the oceanic elements are on tlieir best behaviour. Incidentally. the fishing population at Island Bay is said to be none too keen at the notion of being segregated on the island, but the site is believed to be suitable to the industry, and will relieve tlie permanent residents of the Bay of several complaints.
