ACTION FRANCAISE

MARRIAGES IN PARIS CHURCHES FORBIDDEN

APPEAL BY CARDINAL DUBOIS ("Tinies" Cables.) (Rev. November 19, 7.15 p.m.) Paris, November IS. Cardinal Dubois has issued an appeal to members of the Action Francaise residing in his diocese, explaining that the instructions referring to marriages had been modified in order to prevent a repetition of recent scenes in Paris churches when members of the Action Francaise were being married. Such marriages in future would not be celebrated in a church or sacristy, but only at the bride’s house, in the presence of tlie local curate or vicar. Members were not allowed to belong to Catholic societies or subscribe thereto. The Cardinal points out that the Action Francaise newspaper continues to be sold nt church doors, and lias ordered the clergy to inform their congregations at each Mass that they are forbidden to sell, buy, circulate, or read the newspaper.
