BROADCASTING SPORTS RESULTS
Sir, —There are many cricket enthusiasts following the games played by the Englishmen in Australia who would be pleased to receive the ‘stumps drawn” results of the various matches broadcast before the station closes down each evening, I possess a valve set. but being rather close to 2YA am unable to get the results from Sydney direct. There are hundreds of set owners placed in the same position who have to rely on 2YA for the results. There are also hundreds who can get this direct and who would be willing to hand the information on to 2YA for the benefit of others not so fortunate. The Sydney station 2BL gives a progress report at 8.30 New Zealand time, and the stumps drawn score at 9.10 New Zealand time. I have received this information recently when about 18 miles out of Wellington. Station 2FC also gives a resume of the day’s piny especially for New Zealand listeners at 9.45 New Zealand time, but 2FC is so close that it is impossible for Wellington listeners to tune in to that station. However, the above three sources of information are available, and there is ample time to receive the results and hand on to 2YA listeners from some reliable set owner, telephoned to the station and broadcast, even as a final item before the station closes down. Perhaps after reading this many able to receive tho above results will offer the desired information, and the Broadcasting Company will receive the thanks of many keen followers of the game.—l am, etc.. “AUSSIE.” Wellington. November 17.
