WANGANUI DENTIST FOUND DEAD

■ ♦— — DID AN EXPERIMENT MISCARRY? ■Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, November 1. Air. W. W. Bramwell, a well-known dental surgeon of Wanganui, was found dead in his surgery, shortly before nine o’clock last night, by his partner, Air. A. H. Boyes. He was seated in one of the chairs, in front of which was an apparatus for administering anaesthetic, the cylinder being empty, Dr. G. J. Adams, who was immediately summoned, declared life extinct. An inquest was opened last night by Air. J. S. Barton, S.AL, and was adjourned, after the taking of formal evidence of identification. The late Air. Bramwell, who was about 28 years of age. and unmarried, has been in practice in Wanganui for six or seven years, and was highly skilled in his profession. His parents reside at Feilding, where he received part of his schooling, later going to Wellington College, and thence to the Otago University, where he took the degree of Batchelor of Dental Surgery. He was a brilliant and most enthusiastic student, and at the time of his death, was studying for the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery, for which he was preparing a thesis on anaesthesia. Air. Boyes stated last night that his late partner frequently returned to the surgery at night to study, and conduct experiments, and his explanation of the tragedy is that Air. Bramwell was experimenting on himself for the purposes of studying the effects of anaesthetics, and consciousness left him before he realised tlie necessity of cutting off the supply. The late Air. Bramwell took a prominent part in athletic sport, and was captain of the Wanganui Harrier Club, and club captain of the Wanganui Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club.
