NATIONAL MISSIONARY COUNCIL
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Zealand National Missionary Council was held' at the Bible House yesterday. The Bishop of Nelson (Dr. Sadlier) presided over a full attendance of members. The report of the lion, secretary, the Rev. David Calder, referred to united services ’of intercession, carried out during the year in several centres, when representatives of the mission boards represented in the membership of the council, took part. . The outstanding event of the year in the missionary world, was the meeting ot the International Missionary Council, in Jerusalem, last Easter. Fifty nationalities were represented in the membership of this council, one half belonging to the vounger churches, which have grown up in missionary lands. The New Zealand representatives were the Rev. D. Calder and the Rev. D. Herron. The Rev. D. Calder gave a report ot the Jerusalem Council. The meetings of the council were held in a massive mock of buildings situated on the Mount ot Olives, belonging to Germany. The Jerusalem Patriarch, of the Greek Orthodox Church, placed his summer palace, and the Galilea Church, on the Mount ot Olives, at the disposal of the conference. And the Russian nuns graciously offered the hospitality of their convent to the women delegates. At the conference, Easter morning service the music was led bv the Russian Archbishops Cathedral choir. Among the 240 delegates, nearly all the historic churches of Christendom were represented. The Coptic and Armenian Churches sent their chief dignitaries to take part in the conference. These sat side by side with Indians, Chinese, Africans, and men and women, of many other churches and nationalities. The Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church, the Patriarch of the ancient Samaritan Church, and the Syrian legate, representing the Homan Catholic Chufch, attended the conference by invitation, and conveyed their greetinThe message of-the council to the Christian Churches of the world was presented to the conference by. Bishop Temple, the Archbishop designate of York. The findings of the conference were presented by Mr. Calder, and evoked general and sympathetic discussion. These dealt with the modern problem ot industrialism and war, as well as with purely missionary questions. .... The following officers were appointed. President, Right Rev.
