WAIMAKARIRI RIVER CONTROL
- ♦ loan proposal carried. By Telegraph.—Press Association.' Christchurch, October 31. Ratepayers in the special loan area of the Waimakariri River Trust district voted to-day on a proposal to raise a loan of £lOO,OOO for improved flood control measures in the bed and banks of the Waimakariri River, including two cuts to shorten the lower reaches of the river. The proposal was carried by 3495 votes to 2866. The number of votes recordable was 36,531.
