STEEL FOR WARSHIPS

GERMAN FIRMS PROTEST AGAINST ANGLO-FRENCH ARRANGEMENT (Australian Press Association.) (Rec. October 28, 5.5 p.m.) Berlin, October 27.

According to 'the “Lokal Anzeiger,” German steel firms are protesting against an arrangement negotiated between British 'and French steel firms whereby British firms supply armour plate for French warships, while French firms supply the light steel required for British warship construction. German firms raised the question at a meeting of the Steel Cartel, at which the French replied that war material was excluded from the restrictive clauses. The Germans-argued that this exception did not apply to war material produced for export.
