zt unique exhibition of modern dances with the latest variations will be demonstrated bv Mr. Southern College and Miss Nanoya Baudinct at the Adelphi Cabaret to-night. What was described as one of the causes of unemployment was mentioned’b.v Mr. F. Z. D. Ferriman (Ashburton)' at the Christchurch Diocesan Synod (states the “Ashburton Guardian”). In speaking on a motion regarding the extension of accommodation at the Cathedral Grammar School, Mr. Ferriman said that boys were now too well educated to work (Laughter.) Many who matriculated were not able to find work, and Synod, before voting on the motion, should remember that. Such education was one of the causes of unemployment. Mr. A. Traill, of Stewart Island, recently picked up a bottle on the beach at Mason’s Bay containing a message from an English schoolboy (states the “Southland Times”). The bottle was thrown overboard from a ship at Panama six months ago and during that time lias drifted to the New Zealand coast. Particulars are rather vague, but the gist of the message contained was that if the finder communicated his address to a certain address in England the sender would forward the name of the vessel on which he travelled together with some gift in recognition of the trouble taken.
