MILITARY TOURNEY The annual military boxing tourney was advanced to the semi-finals stage at the Community Club last Friday. The finals will be fought in the Tow-n Hall on Monday evening. Jack Hood, the British welter-weight champion, and Teddy Baldock, bantamweight, remain the unshattered idols of the British prize-ring. Hood sparred one round and then jumped in and thrashed the big Italian Frattini until the seconds were glad to throw In the towel. , x , Baldock seemed out to prove that a close fight with Phil Lolosky, earlier in the year, was a farce. In the amateur boxing tourney here tonight, Costello (Gisborne) knocked out Jackson (Wellington) in the third of a scheduled four-round contest. The Wellington lad made the mistake of mixing it with his heavier and more vigorous opponent instead of continuing to stand off and box him. Mnhunga Brown (Gisborne) knocked out Pansy Wells (Opotiki) in the final of a four-round exciting contest. P. Roderick (Gisborne) gained a points decision over 11. F. Thomas (Wellington) who never appeared to get going properly, and did not show to advantage in the final round.
