LOANS TO SOLDIERS

TOTAL FOR YEAR

Loans totalling £137,601 were issued during the year to 110 discharged soldier-settlers, states the annual report of the Dominion Revaluation Board presented to Parliament yesterday. . , The amount outstanding at the end of the year on open accounts was £2,575.000, being a reduction of £226,000 on the outstanding balance of the previous year. The reduction was caused partly by transfers to the realisation tiecount, but mostly through favourable returns from last season’s produce. Receipts under all headings totalled £1,792.006, which constituted a record. The average monthly receipts amounted to £149,334 as against £137,807 for the previous year. It was evident that the adjust inent work of the Revaluation Board, followed by mutual working understanding between the Department and settlers, was producing good results.
