GLENMORE ROAD WIDENING

GOOD PROGRESS BEING MADE The work of widening Glenmore Road is making good progress. The knoll which was taken off the top of the hill in the Botanical Gardens has been levelled and a terrace is being constructed in three tiers with steps leading up to the road, which ends abruptly at this spot. The area of Glenmore Road which was widened with the spoil taken from the top of the bill is gradually settling down, and is being levelled up as it sinks. The portion of gully which was tilled in has bad loads of soil deposited upon it ready for spreading and laying out. The relaving and duplication of the tram track cannot be proceeded with until the new portion of the road has thoroughly settled down. The further widening of the road up towards the viaduct will then be proceeded with as the relaying of the tramway track progresses, so that the whole may be completed at the same time.
