BROOKLANDS TO BUCHAREST

TO DEMONSTRATE BRITISH MACHINE (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, September 6. Flight-Lieutenant Scholefield left Brooklands at 5 o’clock this morning on an attempt to fly to Bucharest, over 1400 miles. He is flying a two-seater Vickers-Napier Vivid machine, and hopes to reach Bucharest to-night. He will make two halts, at Nurernburg and Belgrade. The purpose of the flight is to demonstrate to the Rumanian Government the capabilities of an aeroplane which is of all-British manufacture in competition with machines from Italy, France, and other countries. SEAPLANE’S OVERLAND FLIGHT (Australian Press Association.) Winnipeg, September 7. After a 1400-mile flight on Wednesday, Squadron-Leader Godfrey hopped off' from Lac du Bonnet on the second leg of his world record OttawaVancouver seaplane flight. He will reach the Pacific coast to-night.
