A local resident who thought that he might be able to get some “easy” money by backing Tunuey against Heeney at Gisborne, Tom’s home town, received word back' that- there was no money for Heeney but plenty for Tunuey (says an exchange). Gisborne people, although ’ evidently loyal to their man, were not game to say so when it was a matter of backing their opinion.
