NEW ZEALAND MOUNTED RIFLES

ANNUAL RE-UNION. The annual re-union of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles was held last night. Proceedings were opened with the trumpet-call "Stables,” played by Trumpeter A. Chrlsteson. Following the Royal Toast the chairman. Captain T. Hislop, gave a short address and proposed the toast "Fallen Comrades,” those I’resent standing in silence as the “Last Post was sounded. Colonel Hall proposed the toast'"The Anzac Mounted Division. Major A. C. Hinman responded. Other Arms” was proposed by Captain G. Williams, and replied to by Major-General RYoung G.0.C., who was toasted with musical honours for his presence at the function. “The Returned Soldiers Association” was proposed by Colonel E. J. Hulbert, and responded to by Major Watson. Other toasts were The Msltors, Lieutenant J. B. Grange, and "the. Press, Sergeant-Major W. Smith. Apologies for absefice vrere received from the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. J G. Coates), the Hon. F. J. Bolleston, Major Samuel, Colonel Powles, Colonel Whvte, Major Avery, Major Brandon. Major McLean, Mr. J. Mason, M.P., and Mr. J. Rolleston, M.P. ' Items were contributed by Messrs. H. E Wilson (songs); A. Burt (whistling solos):: Cox (ventriloquist); Mazengarb (songs); and L. T. Beran (Japanese Violin items).
