DRAINAGE PIPE CHARGES
A SUGGESTION REPUDIATED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, May 17.
Following publication of the text of the trade agreement of three drain pipe manufacturers of Christchurch at the Drainage Board meeting on Tuesday night, the proprietor of the Homebush Pipe Company (Mr. B. McSkimming) has addressed a letter to the chairman o f the board repudiating the suggestion that tlie agreement was for tlie purpose of exploiting the board or the public. He contends that the agreement was necessary because no single works in Christchurch could supply all the pipes required, and only by the works concentrating on certain sizes could the output be sustained. In proof of his statement that no undue profits were being made. Mr. MeSkimmiug offered to produce his account books and further offered to sell liis works to the Drainage Board at the price he paid for them.
