Hamilton, May 8.
Two further moves in connection with the dissension in the Waikato Diocese are reported. The first is the resignation of Canon F. G. Harvie from the position of diocesan secretary and diocesan chaplain. .Mr. Harvie was recently suspended front the' canoiiry by Bishop Cberrington, but was reinstated by order of General Synod. To-day the standing committee of the Waikato Diocese passed the following resolution: “That Canon Harvie’s resignation be accepted; that he be paid three months’ salary in lieu of notice, and that the standing committee place on record its appreciation' of his work in the diocese.”
The standing committee also resolved : “The standing committee of the Diocese of Waikato, after long and careful consideration of the state of unrest in the diocese, is unanimously of opinion that no question has arisen which cannot be satisfactorily solved by whole-hearted concentration upon the work of the church, and calls upon church people to work together for the progress of the Kingdom of God in the diocese under their bishop, whom they deliberately chose as their leader, and to abstain from airing grievances,, real or otherwise, in.the public Prebs, a practice which onlj brings the church into contempt ant proportionately hinders her work. former bishop of Auckland was woni to say, “Work unites; talk divides.”
