- SUCCESSFUL YEAR’S TRADING PROFIT OVER £9OOO Reporting on the year’s operations of the city milk department, the. chairman of the committee Councillor W. H Bennett) made the follow ing statement to the City Council last night “Our trading account shows a profit of £9175 10s. Id., which, though less by some £6400 than that of last yeai, is' accounted for by the higher price paid to the producer, amounting to £l4OO this year over that of last yea*, and also to the fact that for foul months of last year the price was 6-'d. per quart to the consumer. On the whole, the council and citizens are, I think, to he congratulated on the year’s working ot the milk department.” “Very Satisfactory Position.” The Mavor said that he thought the council could congratulate the- chair■man and committee on the very satisfactory position. It had been a very trying year for nil trading concerns—outside the City Council. They had had a verv good veat with all their concerns, 'and it was interesting to find the milk department in consonance with the other trading concerns of the council. The milk committee reported that the daily average milk sales for March amounted to 4996 gallons, being an increase of 5.33 per cent over the sales for the corresponding month of last vear and that the cream sales showed a decrease of 4.99 per cent, on the sales for the corresponding, month ot last year.'
