THREE TOKIO LAWYERS ASSASSINATED

A POLITICAL FEUD (United Service.) (Rec. April 18, 11.15 p.m.) Tokio, April 18. A long series of attacks upon opponents of the Government by professional patriots culminated on Monday night in the assassination of three lawyers and the serious wounding of two others while conferring on how to prevent the withdrawal of criminal charges against the chief of police at the town of Wakayama, near Osaka. The assailants, seven in number, are members of the Wakayama National Spirit Preservation Society, and forced ’ their way into the conference, demanding that the charges against the police of mis-treating prior-election political prisoners be dropped. Meeting with refusal, the Thugs drew daggers, attacking viciouslv. The assailants all surrendered to the police.
