TRAMWAY WAITING SHEDS
NO MONEY FOR ADDITIONAL BUILDINGS
That the request of the Karori Progressive Association for the erection of a tramway waiting shed at the top of Church Hill. Karori, be not acceded to at present, was the recommendation of the Tramways Committee to the City Council last night. The tramway exchequer was not sufficiently affluent just now, replied the Mayor to Cottnicllor R. Semple, who asked the reason for the recommendation. It was necessary to watch expenditure very closely nt the present time.
Councillor J. Burns said the position was very exposed. The shed would only cost about £5O, and seeing the benefit it would be to the people in that district, he moved that it be referred back to the commmittee. Councillor Semple seconded. The Mayor replied that there were other places where shelters were more urgently needed. There were twenty or more wanted, and they- would cost £l5O each, but the committee could not provide them at present. The motion to refer back was defeated and the recommendation of the committee adopted.
