GRIME BEATEN GARCIA SECURES POINTS VICTORY By Telegraph.—press association Coi’vhir.pT (Rec. March 13, 9.45 p.m.) New York, March 12. At Baltimore, Garcia secured a points victory over Grime. Garcia scaled 11811 b. and Grime 1251 b. Grime received an ovation when lie entered the ring. The men boxed the first round even, but in the second Grime pounded the American to the ropes and both men clinched repeatedly. Grime’s round, 't hey fought the next round even, Garcia overcoming Grime’s weaving' style. Garcia missed a hard right in the fourth and tell. Thev exchanged blows lo the head and face. Garcia’s round. Garcia battered the Australian with heavv bodv blows, taking the fifth round. In' the ninth Grime was more cautious and avoided close contact. Garcia sent the Australian to the ropes with a hard right to the face and two light lefts to the head at the bell. Grime put Garcia back on his heels with two upper cuts. They were exchanging bodv punches in the centre of the ling at the bell. Grime’s round. They fought the sixth even in a sharp exchange of bodv blows, but Garcia took the seventh,' when, after trading punches in the middle of the ring the American landed a hard left to the kidnevs at the bell. Garcia took the eighth, when Grime was apparently tired under heavy body and face hammering from the American. Grime took the eleventh, straightening Garcia with a bard right to the face, and following it up with a left. The Australian was fighting better now, and thev were on fairly, even terms Harlv 'in the twelfth Grime for a time succeeded in slowing up the American, but Garcia’s body attack gave him the round and he won the decision.
RISKO DEFEATS SHARKEY
IN ELIMINATION CONTEST
(Rec. March 13, 10.10 p.m.) New York, March 12. Johnny Risko, of Cleveland, secured a points decision over Jack Sharkey in a fifteen-rounds bout in the Rickard elimination contest to find an opponent for Tunney. , Sharkev weighed in at 1911 b., and Risko at 19311 b. The bout started slowIv, but Risko quickly began a slashing two-handed attack that won tlie firs round for him, but thereafter Sharkev out-boxed him and severely punched him, taking the next four rounds by the simple expedient of letting Ins opponent run into his punches. Risko took the sixth. Both men were luttmg low, Sharkev delivering several furious upper-cuts ' and Risko frequently doubling his opponent with vicious bodv blows. With a determined attack Sharkev took the eleventh and twelfth rounds; and Risko the thirteenth. Both were bleeding from cuts over the eyes and both bad black eyes. lhe fourteentli round was even, but in the fifteenth Risko opened a tremendous attack, slamming his opponent about the ring, with Sharkev desperately holding on,' Risko getting the decision apparently in aggressiveness.
