The Provincial “Eight.” The crew for the provincial "eight” were practising last Saturday, and were seated in the order previously announced: Williams (str.), Crease (7), Mullins (6), McLean (5), Cooke (4), Cameron (3), Bright (2), and XX'arden (bow). This did not act too well, so the coach, Mr. Wilson, rearranged the men, the new order being as follows: —Cooke (stroke), McLean (7), Williams (6), Crease (5), Mullins (4), Cameron (3), Bright (2), XVarden (bow). Arrangements have been made for the accommodation of one of the boats at each end of the harbour, and in future the crew will row every evening at 5 p.m., either at Petone or across Oriental Bay. according to whether the wind is from the north or south. Possibles v. Probables.

Two eight-oar races, the New Zealand provincial event and Olympic Possibles v. Probables, will be lowed at the XX T el)ington Regatta on March 24. The Possibles and Probables crews will be announced after the interprovincial event.

The programme will begin with the maiden four-oar event, of one mile. Then will follow the interprovincial championship eights, over a three-mile course. The winning association will hold the Halliburton-Johnston Cup for one year. If the weather at the time prevents rowing the full course of three miles, an interprovincial (lion-championship) race, of one mile and a quarter, will be rowed, and a donation of £5 given to the winning association. The championship race will ih I hat case be rowed as soon as the weather permits. The last event on the programme will be the Olympic Possibles v. Probables eight, over a mile and a quarter. Other races will be maiden double sculls, maiden pairs, light-weight maiden fours and youths’ fours. Entries will close on Saturday, March 17. with the honorary secretary of the XVellington Regatta Club, Mr. S. G. Rees.
