One of Dunedin’s oldest buildings is now being demolished (states the "Star”). This is the dilapidated twostory wooden building erected back in the gold-mining days of the province, and known to old identities as the Plough Inn It was the stopping place for the gold escort conches when on their wav from Gabriel’s Gully to Dunedin. It was also the popular resort of miners and old-time jockeys and racing men. Many hilarious nights were spent within its four walls. For years the building has been used as a residence Although erected over 60 years ago. the timbers are in a good state of preservation.
Gore is evidently the home of giant geraniums (says an exchange). Following on the publication of the information that one Gore resident had produced a stalk with 98 blooms, another caller showed to a reporter there a stalk with 105 separate blooms. This holds the record so far.
