This week’s issue of the “N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review” is again outstanding for its splendidly reproduced illustrations embracing topical subjects of local and overseas note. Very artistic are the centre pages with well set out photographs of men’s bathing contest, American tennis championship, and aquatic thrills. The Auckland Racing Club’s spring meeting has a generous showing of snapshots covering leading events. The N.Z. ladies golf championship tourney at Palmerston North provides an interesting series. The Pakuranga Hunt Club Point to Point Steeplechase is represented in a graphic set of photographs. The final “All Black” trial match forms another stirring page of general appeal. Other striking pages show members of the Y.M.C.A. gymnastic classes in Wellington, bird life at the Auckland Zoo, and demonstrations of Maori cooking. The Stage and Motion Picture world have an artistic representation. The result and the name of the winner of the £lOO Free Skill Competition is given in this number. Other items of interest are the new Lindbergh Dress, group of old-time N.Z. trainers, Hamilton to Auckland cycle road race, the new tanks, apparatus of the royal mint, the Akarana Yacht Club’s new clubhouse. “The Review” is on sale at all booksellers and stationers.—Advt.
