STERLING IN NEW YORK
HIGHEST VALUE SINCE 1914 Rugby, October 9. The pound sterling in New York yesterday rose to 4.SG 63-64ths dollars, the highest value recorded since 1914. Usually at this time of the year the rate moves against the pound, as there is a demand for dollars to pay for the big crop and other imports from the United States.—British Official Wireless.
