BOLD THIEVES

FEUDING HOUSE BURGLED ENTRANCE PAST SLEEPING FAMILY Feilding, October 10. One of the most impudent of all burglaries that have taken place in Feilding recently occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning, when the residence of Mr. G. Goodbebere, in Derby Street, was entered and thoroughly ransacked. What had occurred was not realised until late in the morning, when an article from a dressing table was missed, but even then nothing untoward was suspected until it was discovered that other articles were also missing. A search showed that a suit of clothes and an overcoat had vanished, as well as the sum of £lO. Other articles of clothing and jewellery to the value of £3O were also stolen. Members of the Goodbehere household remained at home on Saturday night, retiring at a late hour to a sleeping porch, which was connected with a bedroom by an open door. It is thought that whoever was responsible was acquainted with the household movements, and that he entered by way of the porch, taking care not to wake its sleeping occupants. Two empty purses were found in the garden in the nrorning, this seeming to suggest that the thieves were so anxious to examine their haul that they did so while they were still on the property of their victims.

The matter is being investigated by the police.
