STATE FOREST SERVICE

"‘ALWAYS DIOST HELPFUL”

POLICY' OF MUTUAL COOPERATION

“I have found the State Forest Service most helpful,” stated Mr. H. A. Horrocks, of Auckland, who is attorney for a large Australian forestry company operating iu the Dominion, yesterday. “I very much appreciate the policy of the service toward all forestry companies, not only my own, but others I happen to be solicitor to. I have always found the Department most helpful and willing to assist with technical advice. After reading the recent criticism of the service by the president of the Timber Growers’ Association. Air. W. McArthur, the only conclusion I can come to is that he is speaking for himself. Cur company is a member of the Timber Growers’ Association, and we .ire entirely satisfied with the operations of the service. I don’t think Mr. McArthur was given anv official sanction to publish such a'statement. The policy of the State Forest Service with private companies has been one of mutual co-operation. I wish to disassociate myself from the statement made byMr. McArthur, that there was grave dissatisfaction with the operations or the service, for it is contrary to fact as far as mv company is concerned.”
