INFECTIOUS DISEASES
SCARLET FEVER STILL PREVALENT
A decrease of nine cases is shown in the Wellington district bulletin of infectious diseases for the week ended at noon yesterday. Scarlet fever is still fairly prevalent, especially in the Central Wellington area, where 13 'cases are reported. Nelson and Marlborough show a clean bill so far as scarlet fever is concerned. Diphtheria is still prevalent, while pneumonia shows a .slight falling off. The details are as follow: — Wanganui-Horowhenua, 15 (14) : Scarlet fever, 4 (6) ; diphtheria, 4 (3) ; tuberculosis. 1 (0) ; pneumonia, 4 (3) ; puerperal fever, 1 (0) ; trachoma, 1 (0) ; erysipelas, 0 (I.); fill. influenza, 0 (1). ervsipelas, 0 (1) ; influenza, 0 (1). Wairarapa-East Cape, 17 ('2O) : Scarlet fever, 7 (10) ; diphtheria, 3 (1) ; enteric fever, 2 (0) ; tuberculosis, 2 (3) ; pneumonia, 1 (1) ; puerperal fever, 1 (4) ; erysipelas, 1 (1). Central Wellington, 20 (22) : Scarlet fever, 13 (12) ; diphtheria, 1 (5) ; tuberculosis, 4 (4) ; erysipelas, 2 (0) ; cere-bro-spinal meningitis, 0 (1). Nelson-Marlborougli, 1 (6) : Tuberculosis, 1 (0) ; scarlet fever, 0 (6). Grand total, 53 (62).
