HOPE CASE TO BE REHEARD
Application by counsel for rehearing of the case against John William Hope for failing to comply with an order for maintenance for his wife in England was granted by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The grounds tor the rehearing were that Hope is not the John William Hope mentioned in tlio order and that he has never been allowed an opportunity of having evidence against him as to his identity weighed. Mr. Hubble, who appeared for tbe maintenance officer asked for an adjournment for fourteen days in order to consider the points raised by counsel. The Magistrate agreed to the adjournment. Hope was released on condition that he reports daily to the police.—Press Assn.
