KARORI INTERESTS
PKOGBESSIVE ASSOCIATIONThe monthly meeting of the executive of true Kurori Progressive Associ-itum ™ held ou Monday. The president, Mr. W. Simm. wua iu the chair. A ,- fc ’ter v.*ib received from the Northland Associauop heartilv supporting any action taken ty the Karori Association for the improvement of tho Northland Junction corner, which with the constantly increasing traffic and the absence of footpaths was considered a menace to pedestrians. A letter from the town clerk advising that the duplication of the main track near Joll Street cannot bo put iu hand until certain properties have been acquired was received with much concern by the committee. The widening of the street as foreshadowed in the council’s letter was considered desirable, but the committee was of opinion that that should have been taken iu baud when suggested by the association in November last. With the up traffic being constantly forced to the wrong side of the road by the down tranicars at this narrow corner and the poor visibility, it was considered that the absence of serious accidents would only be accounted for by the skilful driving of drivers. A motion was carried unanimously supporting the loau proposals, and urging ratepayers to vote.
Advice was received" from the town clerk that owing to pressure of work it was impossible for plans and estimates of the baths and play area to be prepared tor at least two months.
