Calder, director of Allsopp’s Brewery, has offered Hill CO, consisting of seven acres, ns a gift to the nation, in order that it may become “forever England.” He explains that he bought it in 1921 for £4OO for a memorial to the London Rille Brigade, but the scheme collapsed.
