RANGITIKEI NOTES
The death occurred at Hunterville on Wednesday of Mrs. John Hunter, nt the ago of 58 rears. Deceased was a daughter of the lato 'Mr. Stevens and had resided in the district for over 43 years. She took a kcefi interest, in all movements concerning the welfare of (he community anti was an enthusiastic supporter of the Rangitikei Scots Society, and the ' ITuntervjllo Pipe Baud. A husband an<) one son. Archie, survive her. The grocery store of <Mr. W. G. Carruthers at Mangaweka was broken into last week and a quantity of tobacco and a cash box containing £l5 were stolen. The perpetrator has not been located, but inquiries are being instituted. The practice of showing pictures in Ohakune on Sundays ihay soon cease, although it is the custom to-donate the proceeds to charity. The borough Council has unanimously decided that unless the profits exceed £l, the permission to show pictures will he re-considered. Through a car going over the bank on the Mataroa Road, on Saturday evening, Mr. J. R. Mills, a married man, 27 vears of age, lost, bis life. The car was' driven by Leo McSweeney, the accident occurring on a sharp bend of the read.
