Mr. G. Birch, of Marton, is staying with Mr. and Mrs. C. Birch, of Palmerston North. Mr. R. Sound/, of Dannevirke, a member of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, is at present indisposed. Mr. E. Percy, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand at Levin, has gone to Hastings on relieving duty. Mr. J. M. James ,of Masterton, spent a few days in Palmerston North last week. The Rev. C. H. Billington, field director of the Telegu Indian Village Mission, and Mrs. Billington, are spending a visit to Palmerston North as the guests of the Rev. F. A. Crawsbaw. Mr. W. H. Robertshaw, manager of the Feilding branch of the Bank of Australasia, was the guest at a valedictory function prior to his departure on promotion. Also, opportunity was taken to welcome his successor, Mr. St.. Clair, whose father was the first _ manager of the Feilding branch when it opened in 1879. ’ THE COST OF LIVING. In connection with the above problem, two ladies made inquiries regarding H. Blandford and Co.’s ' claim, that the latter could effect a saving of Bs. in the £1 on furs. They found the statement fullv substantiated, and the quality of the articles excellent.
