Time was when bullock teams in the streets of New Plymouth were somewhat common, and many of the older residents can look back to the time when these were, if not the only, at least the chief, means of transport (remarks the “Taranaki Herald”). It is only on very rare occasions that teams of these animals are seen, even in some districts, but a few days ago a fine team of eight was seen in Powderhatn Street, drawing two heavy carts loaded with what looked like sundries from a house-shifting job. The beasts looked particularly 'fine, and were apparently well trained, as a word from the driver, or a light flick with the whip, was all that was necessary to bring them to the side of the road to allow other vehicles to pass, or to turn them at a corner into another strgeh
