BAND CONTEST
PROGRAMME ARRANGED A meeting of the Wellington Band Contest Committee was held on Thursday evening, Mr. H. D. Bennett presiding ever a full attendance of members. The English Adjudicator, Mr. \v. lialliwell, wrote stating lie would arrive early in February. _ The Railway Board wrote granting special excursion rates to bandsmen attending the contest, also to their wives and itunilies. The following appointments were made: Official photographer, Mr. P. 11. Jauncey; official accompanist, Mr. Harold Godier; shorthand writer, Mr! Young. It was decided to ask His Worship to welcome the bands at the Basin Reserve on Februnry 21. Tenders were received for the supply of medals for the solo competition,s and the tender of .Mr. L. R. Partridge was accepted. The finance committee were authorised to expend the amount of ,£l5O for advertising. The arrangements for the reception at the Basin Reserve was referred to the housing committee. The following programme was arranged: . , „ Monday, February 21.—Concert Chamber, 9 a'.m.„, G. trombone solo; 11 a.tn., E.E. fiat bass solo Town Hall. 9 a.ni., boys’ solo; afternoon, reception at Basin Reserve; bands will meet' at Post Office Square at 1.30, march to Basin Reserve, playing inarch en route; 3 p.ni., drums solo. Town Hall, 7 p.m., hymn contest. Tuesday, February 22. —Concert Chamber. 9 a.im, 8.8. flat bass solo. Town Hall, 9 a.ra., euphonium solo. Concert Chamber, 2 p.m., tenor horn solo. lo"n Hall, 2 p.m., tenor trombone solo, jciwn Hall. 7 p.m., B grade selection. "Il 1 lauto Magico.” „ , Wednesday. February 23.—Concert Chamber, 9 a.m., baritone solo; 2 p.m.. B flat flugel horn. Town Hall, 9 a.m.. B flat cornet (first section). Town TTaH,’2 p.m., B flat cornet (second section). Town Hall, 7 p.m . A grade selection, "Lortzing. Thursday, February 21,-Coneert Chamber 9 a.m., E flat Lass solo, (ollcert Chamber, 2 p.m., E flat cornet solo. Town Hall, 2 p.m.. trombone trio. Town Hall. 7 p.m., B grade selection, “Fra Diavolo.” Friday, February 25.—Town Hall, . p.m., quartets. Town Hall, 7 p.m., A grade selection. "Gounod.” • Saturday, February 26.—Athletic Park. 1 p.m., quickstep contest. A and B grade bands. Town Hall. 8 p.m., champion solos, selections by winning bands and presentation of prizes.
