JUPP’S BAND
Jupp’s Band is now working bard in organising a unique and enterprising gala and carnival, with the ol> ject of jaising funds to purchase new uniforms for the members, and appeal to the public of Wellington for assistance and help. Tho gala will commence on January 6. and carry on to anuary 23. Jupp’s Band has always been to the fore in assisting each and every organisation in the city, especially during the stress of tho Great War, when the services of the band were given freely and gratuitously to augment the funds for soldiers’ welfare and assistance to their dependants. The upkeep of a band is a costly item, on account of uniforms, music, instruments, etc., having to be kept right up to date, so now the time has come when the band issues an appeal for thq full support and assistance rrom the public of Wellington. In the gala that is being organised no expense is being spared in introducing new novelties and entertainments —in fact, n’l the shows and games will, it is st: cd, be absolutely new to Wellington, the great features being the Staigs’ Enterprises, Ltd., electric chairoplane, latest up-to-date three-horse abreast merry* go-round, and the nautical novelty, the improved ocean wave; the new race game shooting gallej-y, and other shows which are being imported from the Continent for the occasion. . Tiiere will also be ice cream, soft drinks, ana refreshment stalls, a huge dance I avillion will be erected, and a full jazz orchestra will supply the dance music. Brass bands and pipe bands will render musical programmes each evening.
