An unusual specimen of the feathered tribe, a white starling, was taken to the “Mataura Ensign” office the other morning- The bird was caught at the Gore hostel grounds by Mr. A. Smith, the caretaker, and had' made its home in West Gore for some time. The starling has had some of the feathers stripped from its wings and is not able to fly any great distance.
